New radio technologies require new networks. And as customers move to newer networks, managing spectrum use on both new and existing networks becomes more critical, particularly with the limited availability and high cost of additional spectrum. Optimi's x-AFPTM improves spectral efficiency and QoS by enabling users to incrementally move spectrum from legacy networks to newer ones as customers migrate. When combined with x-SimulatorTM, Optimi's powerful network simulator, x-AFP enables users to create, simulate and analyze frequency plans prior to implementation in a live environment.

x-AFP combines a variety of optimization techniques including evolutionary algorithms, simulated annealing, tabu-search and domain-specific heuristics to achieve high customer-perceived quality. Factors like Frame Erasure Rate, Block Error Rate, RxQual, and BER are evaluated. Users can optimize frequency plans for different morphologies and vehicle speeds through link-level curves. x-AFP combines all aspects of network configuration with a unique cost function to deliver optimal frequency plans, high service quality and extra protection in critical areas.

x-AFP allows superior optimization approaches including ad-hoc channel planning and mixed spectrum planning for high quality results. Users can factor the impact of proposed frequency plans on capacity, coverage, QoS objectives and network expenditures. x-AFP uses the QoS predictions from x-Simulator to optimize multiple network parameters, including hopping lists, custom hopping sequences, hopping offsets and fixed frequencies, as well as fixed channel plans.
