Optimi Announces New WiMAX and HSDPA Solutions to Product Portfolio


Turn-key Features Developed to Meet Growing Operator Demand

Atlanta, GA, USA —February 13, 2007. Optimi, a global leader of customizable planning, optimization and monitoring solutions for new wireless technologies, announced a series of new WiMAX (World Interoperability for Microwave Access) and HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) solutions, which are available through the company's Planning and Optimization Product Suite™.

The updated version of Optimi's x-Wizard product, a highly precise network planning solution, includes a new module to assist operators in designing and planning WiMAX networks. The new module includes propagation models for all WiMAX standard frequency bands, and captures the most relevant features supported by 802.16 including Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC), TDD/FDD support and many others.

Additionally, Optimi has enhanced the support for HSDPA within Optimi's Planning and Optimization Suite™, which is now available in the following applications:

  • x-Wizard, upgraded with an additional 3G technology module, enables operators to establish the initial design of UMTS and HSDPA networks. The new x-Wizard module provides operators with all the required features for a cost and time efficient 2G and 3G design.
  • x-ACP (Automatic Cell Planning) is an application that optimizes the RF design in 2G and 3G mobile networks. Its newly created HSDPA module includes algorithms that improve both individual users throughput and total sector throughput. The embedded static simulator facilitates the benchmarking of different plans on the HSDPA network, prior to its network implementation.
  • x-Parameters, an application that automatically optimizes 2G and 3G Radio Access Network (RAN) parameters on a per-sector basis, offers an integrated dynamic simulator for UMTS and HSDPA networks. Detailed modeling of main HSDPA functionalities, like AMC or Fast Packet Scheduling, allows the dynamic simulator to be used as a virtual network when optimizing the most critical performance related parameters.
