Optimi launches Multi-Technology Self-Healing solution
Optimi has launched a Multi-Technology Self-Healing solution in line with the requirements of the Self-Organizing Networks (SON) network management paradigm proposed by the Next Generation Mobile Networks Alliance, currently under standardization in 3GPP.
xNetHealing is conceived to allow operators to streamline their performance engineering processes whilst at the same time ensuring the Quality of Service levels and response times that are required to satisfy a customer base with mounting expectations, with the subsequent OPEX rationalization, increased customer loyalty and improved EBITDA. Practical experience shows that the application of the technology inside xNetHealing provides a 90% reduction in the time to find the root cause for the 50 worst-performing sectors in a network with 2000 sites.
“The deployment of new, complex technologies and the launch of new multimedia and broadband services for an ever-demanding customer base put significant strain on network engineers, who need to ensure the delivery of competitive Quality of Service with shrinking OPEX budgets", said Dr. Khalid Hamied, Optimi CTO. “In order to streamline performance engineering and troubleshooting processes, xNetHealing automates the continuous execution of advanced analyses, doing intelligent cross-correlation between performance and configuration management information to detect current and upcoming problems in real time, diagnose the root causes for these problems and automatically suggest a cure for them. In short, xNetHealing constitutes a multi-technology solution fulfilling the Self-Healing requirements of SON".
The rationale behind the Multi-Technology SON concept is that, whereas current commercial and standardization efforts are mainly focused on the introduction and Self-Organization of LTE networks, there is a huge potential in extending the scope of Self-Configuration, Self-Optimization and Self-Healing to cover GSM, GPRS, EDGE and UMTS/HSPA radio access technologies, as well as the LTE systems just about to be commercially deployed around the world.
“Even before the SON name was adopted, this concept was the driving idea that inspired Optimi’s solutions portfolio architecture many years ago", said Juan Melero, Optimi CEO. “We are currently the only supplier with a widely deployed and patented commercial solution that truly covers all the SON requirements for 2G, 3G and LTE. Actually, our SON technology is not a promise based on speculation and pure lab simulations; it is a reality in a wide set of commercial networks today".
